Take Your Unclaimed Property Obligations Seriously!

If you have customers, vendors, or employees in any of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, or Guam, then you likely have an unclaimed property reporting obligation.

Whether it’s un-cashed checks, unused credit balances, gift cards, or a multitude of other property types, your company must fulfill its due diligence and escheatment requirements in the correct state or jurisdiction. Don’t fall victim to a lengthy, expensive multi-state audit!

How We’ve Helped Unclaimed Property Clients

Every state can impose interest and penalty assessments if your unclaimed property is reported late. Sometimes, these penalties and interest fees can exceed the amount being reported!

Do You Have Policies and Procedures to Handle Unclaimed Property Liability?

Having written policies and procedures for determining your company’s liability and determining escheat responsibilities is your starting point for compliance.

These policies and procedures can be an asset in a variety of ways, including

  • During an audit or Voluntary Disclosure Agreement (VDA), your written policies and procedures are typically the first request from the State.

  • When you have employee turnover, staying on top of unclaimed property compliance could be forgotten. Having written policies and procedures will go a long way to ensuring that compliance remains at the forefront.

Receive a Better Outcome with VDA Assistance

We’ll act as your company’s advocate and lead you through the entire VDA process.

Your business can experience a multitude of benefits by filing a Voluntary Disclosure Agreement, like:

  • Experiencing little to no involvement from the State until the very end of the VDA process.

  • Having interest or penalties assessments abated when your VDA is filed correctly.
