State and Local Tax Expert joins the Clearview Team - Eric Mauldin

Baltimore, Maryland – Brian M. Davis, Managing Director and CEO of Clearview Group, LLC has announced the addition of Eric Mauldin as a Senior Manager in the Firm’s State and Local Tax practice, where he will he lead the Unclaimed Property group.

Davis explains, “While not a tax, Unclaimed Property falls within that category for many of our larger clients.  It is a niche practice with very few experts in the industry, and Eric is one of them.  His vast knowledge of both Unclaimed Property and State and Local Tax gave him many options as he was looking for growth opportunities, and having him choose our Firm is more evidence that our focus is in the right place – on both our clients and our people. Eric has more than 10 years of experience as a leader in the area of State and Local Tax. He has extensive experience in the areas of Unclaimed Property, Sales and Use Tax, and Personal Property Tax, having led projects in those disciplines in all 50 states, the District of Columbia and countless local jurisdictions. Eric has successfully negotiated a number of favorable Unclaimed Property and Sales and Use Tax settlements on behalf of his clients. He has been sought after as a speaker at a number of national Unclaimed Property conferences.Prior to joining Clearview, Eric spent nearly 10 years as part of the State & Local Tax group with Altus Group U.S., Inc. and with SC&H Group, LLC in Sparks, MD, where he was most recently a Senior Manager specializing in Unclaimed Property work. While at Altus and SC&H, Eric acted as the project lead for unclaimed property assignments including audit defense representation, Delaware Voluntary Disclosure Agreement (“VDA”) engagements, diagnostic liability analysis review, development of comprehensive policies and procedures, and annual compliance. He developed advanced assessment analysis and detailed methodology reports to meet state auditor requirements on behalf of clients, negotiated complex liability settlements at the end of audit defense projects, and acted as the Business Development lead for all prospective Unclaimed Property clients. He led a series of podcasts to educate holders on Unclaimed Property obligations.

Eric’s past experience includes his work at Dunbar Armored, Inc. in Hunt Valley, MD, where he was a Senior Tax Accountant. While there, he prepared monthly & quarterly sales & use tax returns for more than 30 states, negotiated favorable settlements for states where initial returns were filed, reconciled state unclaimed property liability, and processed due diligence letters for appropriate employees & vendors.

Eric earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. Eric and his family reside in York County, PA.
